- Call for CSO Regional and National Environmental Projects
The REC, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), is announcing the first round for proposals to support Environmental Civil Society Organisation (CSO) projects related to urban environment and sustainability in the Western Balkan region.
This granting programme will identify and support regional and national projects initiated by civil society organisations (CSOs) in promoting urban sustainability in six SEE territories: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia, plus UN administered Kosovo. The overall scope of the granting programme is to enable civil society actors to address urban environment and sustainable development issues in South Eastern Europe (SEE).
The programme foresees two granting schemes at the national and regional level.
The total amount available for Regional Grants is 200,000 EUR. Regional grants are up to EUR 35,000 each. In exceptional cases grants can reach up to EUR 50,000 (see announcement for specific requirements).

In addition to the regional grants, the REC is currently launching, the first round of national grants for CSOs. Call for Aarhus Convention Pilot Projects
The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe is calling for national pilot project applications as part of the regional project Improving the Practices of Public Participation: Next Steps in Implementing the Aarhus Convention in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Kosovo/a (under interim UN administration), which is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Please note that applications must be submitted in English.
Non-governmental organisations will receive funding to assist the practical implementation of the Aarhus Convention at the local level in the field of public participation in environmental decision making. The pilot projects should focus on improving public participation practices in environmental issues at the local level. The project activities should be implemented in cooperation with local authorities.
