Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, Slovak Ornithological Society: NGOs working in cooperation to protect the Imperial Eagle in the Carpathian Basin with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.

Wolf Purchase

Canis lupus: known as the common wolf, this carnivorous mammal was once found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, but is now restricted to mostly unpopulated areas and is endangered in Croatia.
Croatian Ecological Society: a NGO striving to achieve full legal protection for wolves in Croatia with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.

Anax imperator: a large stout-bodied insect commonly known as a dragonfly.
Biodiversity Information Center (BIOTA): A Lithuanian NGO working to assess and preserve biodiversity in the Varena district with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.

Brown Bear Ursus arctos: commonly known as the brown bear.
Wilderness Fund: a NGO in Sofia aiming to preserve the Bulgarian bear population with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Trientalis Trientalis europaea: an endangered flower found in the peat bogs of Romania's Nemere Mountains.
Nemere Hiking Association: a Romanian NGO that saved this flower from extinction with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Squirrel Pteromys volans: a rare mammal, most active during the night, usually found in the hallows of old aspen trees in the northeastern forests of Latvia, commonly referred to as the flying squirrel.
Latvian Mammalogical Society: a Latvian NGO trying to create micro-sanctuaries for endangered species such as the flying squirrel with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Human Fish Proteus anguinus: a highly distinct, eel-like and blind cave-dwelling salamander, commonly known as the human fish.
Karst Protection Society: a Slovenian NGO aiming to preserve Slovenia's delicate karst ecosystems and endangered cave-dwellers with the financing support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Great Bustard Otis tarda: a globally threatened bird species, known as the Great Bustard.
Society for the Protection of Birds in Slovakia: a NGO working to save the critical remaining Bustard population in Slovakia with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Butterfly Papilio machaon: a rare and colorful butterfly most commonly found in the south-east pine-forests of Lithuania.
Biodiversity Information Center (BIOTA): a Lithuanian NGO working to assess and preserve the country's biodiversity with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Bat Myotis capaccinii: an endangered cave-dwelling bat found near Pleven, Bulgaria.
Green Balkans Sofia: A Bulgarian NGO which works to protect bats in Bulgaria with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Fish Romanichthys valsanicola: an endangered fossil freshwater fish species found only in Romania's Valsan river.
People and Environment: a Romanian NGO working to preserve this species with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Frog Pelobates fuscus, Hyla arborea: known as the common spade foot and the European treefrog, they represent protected and endangered amphibian species.
Salamandra, Toad Action Group: Salamandra maintains the Morasko Meteorite Reserve in Poland which is home to many rare species of amphibians. Toad Action Group works to preserve frog species in Hungary. Both NGOs operate with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Goat Rupicapra rupicapra: a species of mountain goat which survives the harsh rocky environment 2,000 metres above sea level in Macedonia - but nearly did not survive intensive hunting earlier this century.
The Bird Study and Protection Society of Macedonia: an NGO working to protect the birds, mammals and overall biodiversity of Macedonia with the financing support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Herons Ardeidae: the family of long-legged, long-necked waterfowl, known as herons.
Platalea leucorodia: a wading bird with a flat spoonlike bill, commonly called a spoonbill.
Croatian Ornithological Society: a NGO working to save a mixed colony of herons and spoonbills in the Jelas fishponds of Croatia with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Otter Lutra lutra: a very rare fur-bearing, web-footed, aquatic mammal, commonly known as the River Otter.
Brontosaurus Association (Czech Republic), Bird Study and Protection Society of Macedonia: NGOs working in two countries in the region to save the River Otter, listed on Europe's red list of endangered species, with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Owl Tyto alba: commonly known as the barn owl, a medium-sized nocturnal predator with acute hearing, found throughout Europe and valued for its role in keeping rodent populations down.
Czech Union of Nature Protectors Vlasin: Czech NGO working to protect the barn owl from lifethreatening, agricultural pesticides and habitat destruction with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Pelican Pelecanus crispus: a large endangered waterfowl, known as the Dalmatian pelican, is represented by only a small colony in Albania.
PPNEA and ASPBM: Albanian NGOs working to preserve the country's lagoons, the primary breeding grounds for the Dalmatian pelicans, with the financial support of the Regional Environmental Center.
Pinetree Pinus peuce: an endemic tree species, commonly known as the Macedonian pine, found on Pelister Mountain which was the first national park in the
Bird Study and Protection Society of Macedonia: a Macedonian NGO working to protect local endangered and endemic species with the financing support of the Regional Environmental Center.
