Project Summary: This project supports the implementation of the Green Plan for Oprtalj Municipality by revitalizing and cleaning fresh water springs; documenting and reporting on the status of wetland areas; creating and publishing an “Eco-touristic prospect of Oprtalj municipality“; conducting two seminars for local practitioners focused on eco-extensive farming; conducting two seminars focused on eco-agriculture issues for local practitioners; and conducting a seminar on sustainable mushroom  (truffles) use.

Project Summary: This project aims at  minimizing the number of sources of pollution by establishing a model of cooperation between the NGO, local citizens and school stuents. It will involve the removal of two illegal waste dumpsites; research on water quality in fresh water springs, and downstream; the creation of a pollution map; and the organisation of eco-educational workshops.

Project Summary: This project involves educational activities and workshops for the local owners of traditional orchards, with the aim of initiating the ecological production of traditional fruit species. A certification system will be started, and loan programs aimed at preserving traditional fruit production will be started.

The Promotion of the Zirje Plum – An Initiative for the Revitalization of a Local Traditional Agricultural Species EUR 8,000

Project Summary: This project is promoting the conservation and sustainable use of a locally specific and traditionally cultivated variety of plum. The status of this variety will be professionally and multidisciplinarily evaluated, and local agriculturists will be educated on the most appropriate ways of cultivation and protection. Pilot seedlings will be produced for future cultivation. THe project also involves promotional activities, raising public awareness and fostering local community involvement. A workshop will also be organised and a manual published.

Project Summary: Pilot renewable energy systems will be deployed at a few locations in Croatia that are public areas, managed by environmental NGOs. The aim is to test and promote the decentralized use and management of renewable energy sources in Croatia. Data on the efficiency of the systems will be collected, organized and interpreted for the local community, and promotional materials will be distributed.

It will involve collecting and processing firewood for compost and disposing of material collected within the Silba Island pilot project area.

Project Summary: This project involves planting ivy forests and revitalizing old ones; providing education on traditional knitting using ivy branches through interactive workshops; and promoting the resulting objects as souvenirs of the Neretva. The project is being run in cooperation with the City of Opuzen, Slivno Municipality, the local authority in charge of tourism, and agricultural and technical secondary schools.

Project Summary: This project is promoting local initiatives to find alternative ways to develop and strengthen the local community. It is creating a model of sustainable economic development based on tradition and the sustainable use of natural resources. Activities include: A needs assessment; the development of an action plan;  interactive workshops on sustainable development, organic agriculture, public participation in environmental decision making, civil society development, cooperation and strategic planning; and study tours. The project team is also looking to develop other proposals based on the idea of preserving Lika tradition and nature conservation.

The project team will promote the involvement of all stakeholder groups in the planning and management processes for the reserve.

Project Summary: This project is being carried out on Dugi Otok Island in Zadar County, within the area of Telaščica Nature Park.
