The Regional Environmental Center (REC) strives to make its NGO support programmes as relevant as possible. To this end, we regularly carry out research on the status and nature of the environmental NGO movement. This is done through formal research projects, or informally through discussions with NGO activists. Our main activities have been the NGO Needs Assessment - Problems, Progress and Possibilities (1997), Trends in Funding (1998), with Milieukontakt Oost-Europa, and the regularly-updated NGO directory for Central and Eastern Europe.
