Environmental Law Approximation Network
- The Environmental Law Drafting Network of Senior Officials (ELDNSO) was created in 2002, under Phase 1 of the project. In 2005, the network was renamed the “Environmental Law Approximation Network” (ELAN) in order to reflect the substantial progress made in adopting a strategic approach towards approximation.
- Based on personal contacts established during the eight network meetings held to date, ELAN has proved to be an excellent tool for ensuring regular communication and cooperation between ministries. ELAN provides a forum for the exchange of regional expertise, good practices, updates on legal developments in the countries and a platform for discussions on the development of a strategic approach to environmental law approximation in the SEE region.
- The ELAN e-mail list facilitates the exchange and circulation of relevant documents, laws and communications. It is a tool for active dialogue and discussion among its members, and for sharing and disseminating outputs and information from legal assistance projects in the countries, including documents in local languages.
