Environmental NGO Electronic Networking in South Eastern Europe
Electronic eco-network EkoMrezaBiH now one
step away from state-level registration

EkoMrezaBiH is a citizens’ association in Bosnia and Herzegovina that deals with protection of the environment. The association drew up its statute at a founding assembly in Sarajevo on March 6, 2005, thus enabling the association to be registered at the state level.

EkoMrezaBiH was an informal network of NGOs from the end of 2002, and is now required to register because two years have passed since the project was implemented. Although there was always a need to formally establish the network, time was needed for every member to find its place within the network and get a clearer picture of capacities and spheres of work.

The assembly comprised 19 founding associations with full-time member status. According to the statute, the assembly defined general principles, tasks and aims, relations with other organisations, membership structure (assembly, secretariat and steering committee), promotion of work and funding.

Registration of the association will be defined at a follow-up meeting at the end of 2005. It will offer members a safer approach to donors and eco-funds, which is large step toward sustainability of the association, the implementation of future projects, and cooperation at an international level. The statute will, upon completion of the procedure for registration at the BiH Ministry of Justice, be available on the EkoMrezaBiH internet portal.
