Introduction

This side report belongs to the script 'Beyond Borders - East-East cooperation among environmental NGOs in Central and Eastern Europe'. Both reports are the result of a research on East-East cooperation among environmental NGOs in Central Europe. The research was a master thesis project for the Wageningen Agricultural University, department of Sociology. The empirical research was done at and sponsored by the Regional Environmental Center's head quarters in Budapest - Hungary. During the empirical research period, November 1995 - March 1996, I worked with the Earmarked Grants Team of the Regional Environmental Center. They have been great colleagues and are among my best friends right now.

It was a big adventure to travel around in Central Europe and to have the opportunity to speak with so many interesting people. I would like to thank once again all NGO participants who were extremely enthusiastic, friendly and willing to assist me during the interviews. I found a lot of congenial green spirits, who I would like to meet once again. Maybe we could establish some nice East-West cooperation...

In this side report all elaborated interviews are gathered, country by country. The report consists of four parts, namely all interviews from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and finally Slovakia. For each country the part starts with the interview with the country's opinion leader(s) and continues with the interviews with the East-East cooperative NGOs. The NGO interviews follow the format of the original questionnaire which was created for and used during the empirical research.
