Marianna Bolshakova
Lawyer. Law Degree, State University of Lviv, Ukraine.
Currently working on the L.L.M. research at the CEU (Budapest) and as an intern in the Public Participation Program of the REC.
Professional activities: Working on Environmental Law Public Advocacy and other projects for the Ecopravo-Lviv Charitable Foundation since 1994; environmental Law Specialist on Environmental Management Project for PADCO, Inc.(Lviv office) in 1997.
Publications: Co-author of the Access to Information part of the "Manual on Public Participation" for Ukraine.

John Bonine
Professor of law, University of Oregon School of Law, USA.
Professional activities: An expert in public participation, access to information, and access to justice; author of studies on these topics and works from time to time as an attorney for environmental groups on these issues; has lectured extensively in Eastern Europe on public participation, access to information, and access to justice (standing-to-sue) on environmental matters; worked in the US Government for six years, where he was a high-ranking lawyer in the US Environmental Protection Agency, in charge of a department handling legal advice on regulation of pesticides and air pollution for public health protection; co-founder of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (E-LAW), an international network of lawyers and scientists representing the "public interest" in environmental matters and associated administrative and human rights law topics; currently researching access to justice (standing-to-sue) in 50 countries for academic publication.

Jennifer Braswell
Environmental law student — Vermont Law School; M.A. student of environmental economics — Johns Hopkins University, SAIS; currently working as an intern with the REC's Public Participation and Legal Instruments programs.
Professional Activities: Graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service; served as a Ranger-Naturalist for the U.S. National Park Service in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and as an Environmental Educator at the U.S. National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; acted as project leader for the "Seeds for Progress" public land management project in Telc, Czech Republic and assisted with the development of the grant-giving program of the MacArthur Foundation's office in Moscow, Russia.

Jiri Dusik

Professional activities: Specialization is public participation in EIA and Land-use Planning; graduated from the Czech Technical University in 1993; established and as its Director, operated the Public Environmental Assessment Center in Plzen — an NGO providing advisory services to NGOs participating in EIA processes; worked as community organizer at the Czech Civic Participation Project of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in 1995-96; working with the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe since 1996.

Professional activities: Graduated at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences, worked for the REC since September 1990; participated in several REC projects including the Environmental Legal Task Force providing a framework for impartial assistance, advice in environmental policy and lawmaking between 1991-1993; participated in the UN ECE intergovernmental working group drafting the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decisionmaking and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in 1997-1998.
