The new REC conference centre - thanks to financial support from the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, Italy, grants from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism, and donations from several leading building technology companies - aims to promote existing know-how in the area of sustainability. In the form of a brownfield investment, the existing conference centre was redesigned to reduce fossil-fuel-based energy consumption to zero, thereby eliminating carbon-dioxide emissions. One of the main functions of the REC Conference Center will be to serve as a training and demonstration facility for sustainability solutions. Our hope is that this website will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, helping to find effective ways to tackle the global problem of climate change.
