Welcome!

You are invited to participate in the 3rd Train-the-Trainer Programme on Environmental Crime to be held on November 10-12 for environmental inspectors, prosecutors and police officers of ECENA countries. The training is organised as part of the Multi-Annual Work Programme (MAP) of the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA) for the period 2007-2010. The European Commission CARDS 2005 Regional Programme provides financial support to the ECENA MAP.

The training, which is aimed at countries that are either candidates or potential candidates for EU membership, seeks to increase the countries’ capacities to solve problems connected with crimes against the environment. The training programme is carried out jointly by the ECENA Secretariat, the Criminal Intelligence Service of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior, and the Criminal Intelligence Service of Upper Austria. Experts from the Regional Environmental Center, INTERPOL and the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior as well as environmental inspectors, judges, prosecutors and police officers from Austria will share know-how and best practices in relation to the detection, investigation and prosecution of environmental crimes.

ECENA is an informal network of environmental authorities from potential candidate and candidate countries, as well as from the new member states Bulgaria and Romania. The European Commission is also a member of ECENA.

The main objective of ECENA is to support its member countries in strengthening environmental compliance and enforcement in line with the obligations taken up in the EU accession process.
