We would like to invite you to the 3rd Plenary Meeting of the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network for Accession (ECENA). The meeting will be held on September 18–19, 2008 in Istanbul at the Hotel Seminal (Taksim District).

The meeting will be co-chaired by the European Commission and High Officials from the Turkish Ministry of Environment.

Meeting participants will review the activities of ECENA’s Multi-Annual Work Programme (MAP) and its impact on progress that countries have made toward implementing EU environmental legislation since last September’s 2nd Plenary Meeting. ECENA MAP draws its financial support from the European Commission CARDS 2005 Regional Programme.

ECENA is an informal network of environmental authorities from EU candidate- and potential candidate countries, as well as from new member states Bulgaria and Romania. The European Commission is also an ECENA member. ECENA’s main objective is to support its member countries in strengthening environmental compliance and enforcement in line with obligations taken up in the EU accession process.
